To be kind and understanding to all you come in contact with is the path of enlightenment. To act God-like or as Christ or Buddha might have acted is the true path. It is not the way you have acted in the past and so it is difficult for you to forge a new response in an old situation.
However, it can be done. To become full of lovingkindness, it is not always necessary to feel it from the heart. At first, you may have to act like you are full of lovingkindness, even though inside you may be feeling or thinking in an arrogant or spoiled manner because of some vague unidentified fear that prompts you to be curt or rude or downright mean to others.
To act kind even though you may not be feeling kind is not dishonest. It is simply training your self to react kindly in any situation. This is always the correct response, and so, in training your self to do so, you will save yourself much grief later on.
After the experience when you have been kind, even though your first response was not to be, then think honestly about what you thought and felt and find out what fear was behind the unkindness and release it. Thank your self for continuing to be kind while your thought processes are being cleansed and renewed.
Renew your self with each thought. Let go of separateness that creates arrogance and jealousy. Let go of the selfish thoughts and the fear of losing that keep you stuck in your mind alone. You are a part of everything that is. You cannot be separate. Therefore, what you do to others affects you greatly.
Kindness creates connection, opens the heart, and allows joy a place to dance. Let joy dance in your heart and feel the connection to your Self and the Creator. You are already dancing in my heart.
There is sorrow, there is pain. But there is also joy and love. Which do you choose? Which do you wish to experience, for the choice is yours. There is always sorrow and there is always joy. Both are rivers running under your feet. You may step foot in either at any time. It is always your choice.
When you carry sorrow for so long, it is hard to remember joy. Put the sorrow down and carry joy for a while. Let it soothe you and fill your cells with light, if only for a short time. Practice each day putting down your sorrow and instead carrying joy. Each day carry joy a little longer, until you have no need to pick up sorrow again.
See the rivers at your feet and find your place by the rivers of joy. There is no reason not to. There is no reason to remain in sorrow. Reason is for mind. Joy is for the heart. Allow Creator to walk with you by the river of joy and feel the love burst forth from your own heart like water released from a dam. Let go the sorrow and allow love to form your world.
